Praticamente 9 meses atrás publiquei a última postagem sobre a despedida do rugby feminino e também dizendo que o próximo ano guardava planos diferentes, então já está na hora de ver o que nasceu nesse período de gestação. Na verdade, essa “gestação” está mais para a execução de um planejamento de mudança e o que nasce agora é uma nova fase na carreira profissional e um approach diferente ao conteúdo que produzo aqui. Esse processo de mudança estamos retratando como Protagonistas do Próprio Destino e pretendo explorar um pouco mais aqui também, afinal faz parte do minha paixão por edição de vídeos e produção de conteúdo. Quanto as produções independentes aleatórias que publico aqui, apenas a parte fotográfica prosseguiu lentamente via Instagram e vou trazer mais detalhes por aqui também em breve. No entanto, o tema que venho propor aqui para o renascimento desta plataforma é sobre legado.

About 9 months ago I published the last post about the farewell from women’s rugby and also said that the next year would hold different plans, so it’s about time to see what was born from this period of gestation. In fact, this “gestation” is more of a new step in my professional career and a different approach to the content I produce here. This process of change is being posted on YouTube and I intend to explore a little bit more here as well, after all it’s part of my passion for editing videos and producing content. As for the random independent productions that I post here, only the photography part slowly continued on Instagram and I’ll bring more details here soon. However, the theme I’d like to bring up today for the rebirth of this platform is about legacy.

A definição de legado que abordo aqui é aquilo que se passa de uma geração a outra, que se transmite à posteridade, algo significativo que sobrevive a ação do tempo. Sendo assim, creio ter feito algo há poucos anos atrás que tem se ampliado e parece que vai ficar marcado como um legado. Vamos aos fatos, mas antes uma breve história para contextualizar.

The definition of legacy that I bring here is that which passes from one generation to another, which is transmitted through posterity, something meaningful that survives the effects of time. Thus, I believe I did something a few years ago that has been expanding and seems it will become something like a legacy. Let’s jump to the facts, but first a brief history to set the context.

Em 2013 me aproximei do rugby e no fim daquele ano acabei aderindo à prática deste esporte por meio da arbitragem. Durante o curso de arbitragem tive a chance de conhecer quem estava no comando da federação e não perdi a oportunidade de apontar algo que me intrigava muito: a falta de publicidade. Não falo de mídia fazendo cobertura, não. A publicidade era zero. Não conseguia saber o placar da partida que meus amigos jogaram pois ninguém, NINGUÉM publicava, nem clube, nem federação e nem os jogadores lembravam direito do placar, apenas sabiam se haviam ganhado ou perdido, os números pouco importavam. Obviamente eles estavam cientes disso e até procurando melhorar esse quesito tanto que algumas semanas depois veio o convite para colaborar e trabalhar para a federação na parte de comunicação. Eu tenho o seguinte princípio: se reclamou tem que apresentar uma solução. Não era meu plano, mas vi ali uma boa oportunidade de fazer a diferença e aceitei o desafio. No início de 2014 já estava colocando notícias no ar no site da federação. Claro que como nunca havia feito algo do tipo e estava inserido num novo ambiente contei com a ajuda de quem eu enchi o saco para conseguir informações e refinar meus textos. Então vai o agradecimento ao Virgilio Neto (Virga), Lucas Toniazzo e Muray Lizott por isso. Quando começou o campeonato gaúcho os resultados estavam lá. É algo tão simples, mas bastante significativo. Aos poucos fui abastecendo a mídia e lentamente notícias começaram a aparecer mais frequentequemente nos jornais. Os clubes então começaram a compartilhar essas notícias e acredito que isso tenha motivado a criação de conteúdo próprio sendo postado mais regularmente. Pois bem, isso já era uma melhoria considerável, mas pra mim apenas parecia algo básico. Extremamente importante, mas básico. O próximo passo seria muito mais interessante.

In 2013 I got closer to rugby and by the end of that year I started practicing this sport through refereeing. During the match official training course I meet the ones in charge of the state rugby federation and I didn’t miss the opportunity to point out something that intrigued me a lot: the lack of publicity. I’m not talking about media coverage. Advertising was null. I couldn’t even know the score of my friends’ matches because nobody, NOBODY published, neither the club, nor the federation, not even the players remembered the score, they only knew if they had won or lost, the numbers didn’t matter. Obviously they were aware of it and were even trying to improve this aspect and a few weeks later I got an invitation to collaborate and work for the federation in the comunication area. I have the following principle: if you complain you have to come up with a solution. It was not my plan, but I saw a good opportunity to make the difference and I accepted the challenge. By early 2014 I was already posting some news on the federation’s website. Of course that as I’ve never done something like that in this new environment I had the help from those I bugged a lot to get information and improve my writing. So here goes my gratitude to Virgilio Neto (Virga), Lucas Toniazzo e Muray Lizott for that. When the championship started the scored were there. It’s something so simple, but quite significant. Gradually I started to provide information and newsletter to the media and more news started to be published more often. The clubs then started sharing these pieces of news and I believe it motivated them to create their own content to be posted more regularly. Well, this was a considerable improvement, but still basic. The next step was going to be much more interesting.

Muito mais interessante é deixar o esporte mais simples e atrativo para quem quer que seja. Lembro de discutir bastante sobre isso entre um mate e outro com o Aldo Tamagusuku, que também botava suas energias para divulgar o esporte. Para isso, aproveitando que as três principais competições gaúchas estavam bem estabelecidas e observando outras competições no Brasil e no mundo, percebi que criar uma identidade para as competições ajudaria na publicidade e disseminação do esporte afinal, pra um esporte que é visto como “complicado”, deixar a competição mais atrativa aos olhos e já providenciando as informações de forma simples e acessível traria um benefício providencial ao rugby. E assim propus a ideia e chamei um talentoso artista e grande amigo para realizar e produzir essa ideia, Charles Segat. Como o campeonato gaúcho já estava em andamento resolvi começar pela Copa RS que seria a próxima competição. Minha ideia era combinar imagens tradicionais do estado e do rugby, então a primeira imagem que esbocei foi a de dois pinheiros sendo usados como os postes do H. Fiz o esboço, apresentei pro Segat e ele elevou para um nível exponencialmente melhor. E já começamos a utilizar de imediato na divulgação da competição.

Much more interesting is turning the sport simpler and more attractive to anyone. I remember discussing a lot about it between one and another ‘mate’ with Aldo Tamagusuku, who also put great effort in promoting the sport. For that, taking advantage of the fact that the three main competitions on the state were well established and by observing other competitions in Brazil and across the world, I realized that creating an identity to the competitions would help in the publicity and dissemination of the sport, after all for a sport thought to be “complicated” turning the competition more attractive would be beneficial to it. So I suggested the idea and called a talented artist and great friend to realize and produce that idea, Charles Segat. As the main competition had already started I decided to start with ‘Copa RS’ that would be the next competition. My idea aws to combine traditional images about the state and rugby, so the first image that I sketched was two pine trees being used as the posts. I’ve made the sketch, showed to Segat and he took it to an exceptionally better level. Then we start using it immediately to cover the competition.

Logo em seguida já veio a ideia para o circuito de sevens, usando o mapa do estado e um sete com as cores da bandeira riograndense. Novamente o uso foi imediato e inclusive já aproveitamos para inserir nas súmulas oficiais das partidas. A Dani, que durante todo o processo nesses anos proporcionou apoio total, ajudou a impusionar o uso por meio do rugby feminino. Os clubes também passaram a utilizar nos seus meios de comunicação e a coisa toda foi tomando forma.

Soon after the idea to the sevens series arose, using the map of the state and the number seven with the colours of the flag. Again the usage was instant and we also started using in the official records. Dani, who throughout these years gave me full support, helped to boost the use among women’s rugby. Clubs also started using it in their own publicity pieces and the thing was getting a bigger shape.

A obra prima no entanto ficou para o principal campeonato do estado e todo o crédito para a idealização e execução vão para o Segat. E que logo foda! Esse foi facilmente incorporado nas peças de publicidade da federação, clubes e demais interessados.

However, the masterpiece remained for the main championship of the state and all the credit for the desing goes to Segat. What a badass logo! This one was easily incorporated into the advertising pieces of the federation, clubs and others.

Pois bem, para a Copa RS e as etapas de sevens já haviam sido feitos troféus e medalhas usando os logos novos das competições, mas acredito que somente agora tivemos um troféu especial para o campeonato gaúcho. E ver tantos atletas celebrando, erguendo os troféus e levando pra casa medalhas com aquele logo concebido 4, 5 anos atrás me deu um orgulho enorme de ver como se criou uma cultura em torno da identidade da competição e que vai ficar imortalizado em estantes de troféus dos clubes e nas casas dos jogadores que poderão mostrar para seus amigos, filhos, netos que conquistaram um lugar de destaque nos primórdios do rugby gaúcho e lá vai estar aquele logo, aquela identidade que alguém um dia teve a ideia para fortalecer a cultura desse esporte que tanto amamos.

Trophies and medals had already been made for ‘Copa RS’ and the sevens series with the new logos, but I believe that only now we have a special trophy for ‘Campeonato Gaúcho’, the main championship. Looking at so many players celebrating, rising the trophies in the air, and taking home medal with that logo creeate 4, 5 years ago brought an enormous feeling of pride by seeing how a culture around the identity of the competition has been created and that it will be immortalized on the shelves of the clubs and the homes of the players that will be able to show their friends, children, grandchildren that they achieved a high position in the origins of rugby in the state. And there will be that logo, that identity that one day someone had the idea to strengthen the culture of this sport we love so much.

Eu, como árbitro, dificilmente recebi alguma medalha de competições que participei, mas sem dúvida alguma não tem prêmio maior que dar a luz a uma ideia, ver ela se realizar, crescer e, talvez, se imortalizar em peças tão almejadas como estes troféus.

I, as a referee, hardly ever got a medal in the competitions I have taken part in, but without a doubt there is no bigger prize than giving birth to an aidea, see it happen, grow, and, perhaps, be immortalized in pieces as desired as these trophies.
