It’s been a while that I wanted to upgrade my camera gear to be able to produce better videos, but there was no real need for that until my wife and I decided to depict the process of changing our lives and moving overseas. My desire was to be able to shoot some slow motion for B-rolls which was only possible with the GoPro I have, but then with very limited options to record and edit accordingly. Well, again I didn’t actually need to upgrade, but I thought it was about time to level up the game and invest in some more professional stuff to push myself to make something better.

Fazia um tempo que eu queria fazer um upgrade no meu equipamento de câmera pra produzir vídeos melhores, mas não havia uma real necessidade para tal até que eu e minha esposa decidimos retratar o processo de mudança das nossas vidas na mudança pro outro lado do oceano. Meu desejo era conseguir fazer umas câmera lenta pra B-roll que eram apenas possíveis com a GoPro que tenho, mas era muito limitada pra gravar e editar conforme o que queria. Bem, novamente não precisava realmente fazer esse upgrade, mas achei que era hora de subir de nível e investir em algo mais profissional pra me puxar a fazer coisas melhores.

Since camera gear is very expensive in Brazil and the whole process of moving demands a great deal of money, specially when the currency exchange is far from favourable, it took a while to finally make the move. I had been working for a few months, had already saved some money for emergencies, and after some research I decided to aim high and got a really good (and expensive) camera. It was a great investment for sure. So it’s better be worthy (or I’m better be worthy for the camera).

Já que equipamentos de câmera são muito caros no Brasil e o processo todo de mudança demanda muito dinheiro, especialmente quando o câmbio está longe de favorável, levou um tempo para finalmente mudar. Eu tinha trabalhado por alguns meses, já havia economizado pra emergências e então depois de algumas pesquisas decidi mirar alto e peguei uma câmera muito boa (e cara). Era um grande investimento, sem dúvida. Então é melhor que valha a pena (ou é melhor que eu faça valer a pena).

The next day I got the new camera I went to the centre to meet my wife during her break and try out the new toy at St. James’s Park. A lot of new and different buttons, definitely more professional settings, and besides getting some quite interesting shots I knew I would have to spend a good amount of time learning about the camera and, of course, about photography. Anyway, here’s the result of that evening (with today’s edit)…

No dia seguinte que peguei a câmera fui para o centro encontrar minha esposa no seu intervalo e testar o novo brinquedo no St. James’s Park. Vários botões novos e diferentes, definitivamente configurações mais profissionais e apesar de conseguir umas imagens bem interessantes eu sabia que teria que gastar um bom tempo aprendendo sobre a câmera e, claro, sobre fotografia. De qualquer forma, aqui está o resultado daquele fim de tarde (com edição de hoje)…
