23rd March 2019, Saturday, lovely warm day in London, and we were going to realise a dream I suppose. In a way it was quite unbelievable that we were finally going to watch one great professional rugby clash in loco, one that we would stop whatever we were doing just to watch on TV. On the other hand it also felt like it could be the new normal to be able to attend Premiership matches in a regular basis and it was very exciting. Anyway, off we went to the Olympic Park to watch the London derby between Saracens and Harlequins.

23 de março de 2019, sábado, dia quente e adorável em Londres e estávamos indo realizar um sonho, creio eu. De certa forma era meio inacreditável que nós finalmente estávamos indo assistir um grande embate profissional de rugby in loco, um que nós pararíamos o que estivéssemos fazendo só para assistir na TV. Por outro lado também parecia que poderia ser a nova realidade ser capaz de frequentar jogos da Premiership regularmente e isso era muito animador. De qualquer forma lá fomos nós para o Parque Olímpico assistir o derby de Londres entre Saracens e Harlequins.

I have been to the Olympic Stadium, or should I say Queen Elizabeth II Stadium, at the Olympic Games in 2012 and it was great to be back. You know when you go to a really nice place very far away that you struggled to make your way there and then you wish to be back sometime? Yeah, mission accomplished, and it was great! Even better now with Dani by my side!

Eu já estive no Estádio Olímpico, ou devo dizer Estádio Rainha Elizabeth II, nos Jogos Olímpicos de 2012 e foi ótimo voltar. Sabe quando se vai em um lugar muito legal bem longe que foi difícil fazer acontecer e então se deseja voltar lá algum dia? É, missão cumprida e foi demais! Até melhor agora com a Dani do meu lado!

This time we were going to watch some of the finest of rugby and it was a completely different experience from what we had in Brazil. First of all, the number of spectators was surprisingly higher, of course, and none of them had to bring their own beach chair. In addition, we had numbered seats, a selection of draught beer, big screen, and so on. No need to travel to Ana Rech, Hípica ou Delfina with a couple of chairs in the boot, some sunscreen in the bag, or some cold ones in a cooler, just a ride in public transportation and the rest you know already.

Desta vez estávamos indo assistir algo do melhor do rugby e era uma experiência completamente diferente da que tínhamos no Brasil. Primeiramente, o número de espectadores era surpreendentemente maio, é claro, e nenhum deles teve que trazer sua cadeira de praia. Ainda, tínhamos assentos numerados, uma seleção de cervejas na torneira, telão e por aí vai. Não precisava viajar para Ana Rech, Hípica ou Delfina com um par de cadeiras no porta-malas, um protetor solar na mochila ou algumas geladas num cooler, apenas uma jornada de transporte público e o resto vocês já sabem.

Since it was a London derby, it was a great event. Because of that Saracens was not hosting the match at Allianz Arena, but the Olympic Stadium with lots going on before the action started. Cheerleaders, pyrotechnics, balloons, flags all around, great entertainment. We were amazed! What a great way to kick off our rugby life here!

Já que era um derby londrino, era um grande evento. Por causa disso o Saracens não estava recebendo o jogo na Allianz Arena, mas no Estádio Olímpico com muita coisa acontecendo antes que a ação começasse. Animadoras de torcida, pirotecnia, balões, bandeiras por todo lado, grande entretenimento. Estávamos maravilhados! Que ótimo jeito de começar nossa vida de rugby aqui!

Soon after the real kick off we were thrilled to be able to be present at such match. All those players, Joe Marler, Kyle Sinckler, Danny Care, Marcus Smith, Chis Robshaw, Mike Brown, Billy Vunipola, Jamie George, Alex Goode, wearing the two traditional rugby shirts of Harlequins and Saracens, being refereed by J.P. Doyle, together with a pint of ale in hand and my lovely partner alongside, life couldn’t get any better. Well, it did eventually with the well balanced and disputed match ahead of us.

Logo depois do pontapé de início nós estávamos emocionados por estar presentes em tal partida. Todos aqueles jogadores, Joe Marler, Kyle Sinckler, Danny Care, Marcus Smith, Chris Robshaw, Mike Brown, Billy Vunipola, Jamie George, Alex Goode, vestindo as duas tradicionais camisas de rugby do Harlequins e do Saracens, sendo arbitrados pelo J.P. Doyle, junto com uma pint de ale na mão e ao lado da minha amável companheira, a vida não podia ficar melhor. Bem, em seguida ficou com uma partida bem equilibrada e disputada na nossa frente.

Harlequins had a better first half and went to the half time leading 17 x 6. Saracens came back much more effective and took the lead within 18 minutes. 20 x 17. Marcus Smith equalised everything with 20 minutes left. 20 x 20. Saracens were superior at that point and managed to score once again setting the final score: 27 x 20. Great match! Can’t wait for the next one!

Harlequins teve um primeiro tempo melhor e foi para o intervalo liderando 17 x 6. Saracens voltou muito mais efetivo e tomou a liderança dentro de 18 muitos. 20 x 17. Marcus Smith igualou tudo com 20 minutos pro fim. 20 x 20. Saracens era superior naquele momento e arranjou um jeito de marcar mais uma vez dando números finais ao placar: 27 x 20. Grande jogo! Mal posso esperar pelo próximo!
